Wood Smoke Stories

Vermont neighbors don’t care

I’m in northern Vermont in a suburb. Most of my neighbors burn old wood stoves even though they have gas furnaces and boilers. AND they all have campfires outside.

I have a heart condition and have to run two big air purifiers 24/7 and sometimes the smoke is so bad I can’t go out in my yard.

The neighbors even had campfires this summer even though for much of the summer our air quality was horrific from the Canadian wildfires.

My neighbors who burn don’t deny the strong evidence that wood burning is a health hazard and highly polluting. They just like to burn wood, have always and plan to continue even though it’s harming them and their neighbors.
